This tour is a must see for all animal and nature lovers. We will depart from White River between 06:30 – 08:00 am depending on booking availability. Our first stop will be The Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

Situated in the shadow of the majestic “Mariepskop” which forms part of the mighty Drakensberg Mountains, this unique Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is a home to many of South Africa’s abandoned, injured and poisoned wildlife.

Our second stop will be the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center (HESC), here guest will have a short introductory presentation before the tour starts. You will then begin the 2 hour tour on Open safari vehicles with experienced guides.

HESC houses a number of animal species including cheetah, African wild dog, lion, African wild cat, Ground hornbill, Sable antelope, to name just a few. You can view the resident animals in close proximity, in a habitat simulating what they would experience in the wild. You are also afforded the opportunity of watching rare African vultures feeding at the Vulture Restaurant.

After the tour you will have the option to visit the Curio shop and Deli at HESC. The Deli @ HESC offers a wide variety of meals and snacks, as well as hot and cold beverages. Visitors can choose from a selection of tasty breakfasts, cakes, home-cooked meals and traditional South African dishes.

Stocked to the brim with locally made artifacts, wildlife literature, clothing and children’s toys, visitors to HESC will enjoy browsing the colorful shelves of the curio shop for gifts and mementos.

Many of the pieces on sale in the shop are made by local communities, renowned for their proficiency in beading and weaving.

The curio shop is an important contributor to HESC’s funding and all proceeds from sales go towards the care of the center’s many animal residents.

We will return to White River at around 19:00 – 19:30.
